Few properties capture the architectural heritage and scenic beauty of Berkeley as wonderfully as Rose Walk and its adjoining structures. They are constructed from a common palatte of materials: large wood shingles, unpainted vertical boards rounded at the ends, carved brackets under the eaves, and the characteristic unpainted stucco with its integral rosy tone.
Each duplex is unique in design, and set apart from the others so as not to encroach on views. Some have decks, others have balconies that provide views of the bay. Each unit has a garage and a sun porch of varying sizes. Completing the complex is a cottage of all-wood interior and exterior, with its own spacious redwood deck, that sits atop a three-bay garage. This structure and the garages for the other units, nine in total, face Codornices Road.
